FAQ Kindergarten Registration
Welcome to Kindergarten! Hopefully this FAQ will help answer your questions concerning the registration process.
When is kindergarten registration?
May 8th-12th from 7-10 am and May 8th from 3-6 pm
How old must my child be to attend Kindergarten or Kindergarten Readiness?
Your child must be five years old on or before August 15, 2017.
Who is Kindergarten Readiness designed to accommodate?
Children who turn five in the summer are ideal candidates and must be zoned for Rockvale Elementary School. It’s designed to allow these children time to become more mature.
Does my child need to attend registration with me?
No, it’s not necessary for them to attend.
What do I need to bring with me to registration?
Birth certificate, proof of residency (utility bill only), social security card (optional), shot record and physical on a TN form. If the shots/physical are not complete, please bring proof of scheduled appointment. If you are living with someone else, an affidavit must be completed along with 2 proofs of residency (utility bills) by home owner, plus have it signed by a notary.
When will my child come in for screening?
You will schedule a screening date during registration. The screening dates are: August 7-9.
When is Phase-in and what is phase-in?
Phase-in dates are either Aug. 11 or 14. Your child has the chance to attend a full day of school with half of their class. This allows them time to get to know their teacher and learn the names of some of their classmates along with the daily routine.
When is the first full day of school?
Kindergarten will start Aug. 15th
What are bell times?
7:40 am-2:40 pm, students are due in their seats at 7:40 am.
