hi I'm Wendy Houston I take fourth grade ELA and I'm going to read chapter and I to you Wednesday March 7th through Thursday March money safe - $6.10 my stomach Twisted into shoelace knot to school the next day the kind of not mom usually got out for me because she had long nails Lexi's after school tutoring signs plastered the hallway walls I didn't even know the school allows signs like those what is that against the law or something, since school should never mix just like firecrackers in cauliflower don't ask but maybe it was illegal maybe Lexie would be tossed in jail maybe I could hide the jail key and she would be trapped. bars forever Lexington to earn money in prison except for a baking license plate and I'm pretty sure that gig didn't pay well at all Lexi signs were smothered with so much glitter bright neon paint you couldn't ignore them even if you wanted to believe me I wanted to see painted pictures of books and graduation cap and pencils and even Albert Einstein it was a pretty good picture of him she's gotten the hair just right and that's the hard part I stared at the blood-curdling boards seething when did she possibly have want to create them between tutoring and going to school as I stood Miss Gurney the assistant principal brushed past me she reminded me of a giraffe with a long neck always craning forward faster and casting Shadows on the floor class was just about to start but this was my chance to turn the tables on Lexie I jumped in front of the assistant principal get it to a halt yes hello down there she stretch your long neck to look down at me didn't see you but I do now I'm in a bit of a rush she tried to sidestep me but I sidestepped to between Mom and Miss Gurney I was getting pretty good size 7 do you think those signs are a good idea I pointed to Lexi's glitter-covered abomination advertising school is against the law how many students need help studying I think it's wonderful that Lexie is being so industrious Miss Gurney true and I don't think it's against the law now excuse me I didn't but I wasn't going to let Miss Kearney go that easily it's dangerous what is someone was reading a sign and walked into the wall that could break their nose the school can be sued 40 sued by kids with broken noses I appreciate the concern but I don't think that's likely I think the signs are pretty like she did a wonderful job on them she's so talented now I really must go Dennis Garney wasn't leaving not yet not when every sign in Lexi closer to a cat and a life of misery for me people can be allergic to glitter offer no one allergic to glitter the posters to fall off the wall and touch someone in the eye I'm not going to hurt someone will they could unlikely what if a poster failing is someone slipped on it that tutoring what it really said Munoz Auto will never get a dog you do so there I grabbed that glistening board with its shining orange glitter ripped it off the wall and tore it in half that was so our a student hallway holding a to poster have staring at them I pictured mom's eyes glaring at me if she shook her head and said what have you done I began with the hall was complete noiseless except for my rapidly beating heart I said I shouldn't have felt bad this was war Lexie had it coming to her for all her teasing and know it all this so why did I the horrible then why did I stand in that empty hallway gripping a torn sign my face turning red in my stomach tight and even more complicated shoelace not stand before not said no one get out if even with extra long fingernails I put the poster back onto the wall carefully pressing down it feels sticky tape but you couldn't miss the Big Rip in the middle I couldn't fix that I dragged myself to class my shoulder sagging my teacher barked at me to take my seat next time gets class on time and he gave me a warning do warnings and you get to tension I barely heard him through the loud yelping mon of guilt swirling inside my head I had to ignore it I couldn't get soft not now they say all is fair in love and this battle had nothing to do with love after school I pedal my bike out of my neighborhood pass the apartment complex by the part over the bridge to Grand River Avenue Boniface mall stores to help wanted sign maybe someone needed a magician or wanted someone to run a kissing booth okay definitely not a kissing booth bike up and down the sidewalk and then down and up I saw a sign asking for a busboy on a restaurant door but the owner said I had to be 21 years or older I spoke in a really voice and told him I was 22 years old they told me to go away it's hard to pretend you're 22 when you're walking a bike and you're about eight years away from shaving before I left at 4 the sign was for a bus boy not a bus man and it was false advertising and that he could go to jail but I'd look the other way if he gave me a job he slammed the door on me hopefully I walked into Knotts grocery store snoods grocery store that was the largest store on the street it was the only store with its own parking lot to I want my bike outside Strode in and ask to speak to the manager as I waited I looked at my reflection in the mirror I had a bit of cheese crackers stuck in my teeth so I picked it out it's important to make a good impression when you're interviewing for a job that's why my Jeep without grass stains on the knees in a clean t-shirt you can never over dress for a job interview I hadn't been in the store for about a year ever since what Mom called the canned goods cans stripping nudes has the giant pyramid displays of canned goods at the end of some of the Isles I always wondered what would happen if I pulled out a can from the very bottom row the answer nothing good happen if you have the urge to pull a bottom can from a giant store Pyramid don't you been warrant after that Mom said I wasn't going grocery shopping with her for the rest of my natural born life which raised the question is there such thing as an unnatural for life like if you're a vampire I hope so because there were a whole bunch of things I couldn't do for the rest of my natural born life here is a partial list of made I can't use the oven you already know about that one throw snowballs from the roof of our house go on the roof our house when there is snow on it or ever carry four glasses of milk to the table at one time use Lexi's blanket as an umbrella Shake all the cans of soda in the refrigerator for any pan in the refrigerator mr. snood himself came out to talk to me he wore a butcher's apron with blood smeared on it if you want to be a serial killer you should work in a meat department because no one would wonder why you walked around with blood splattered all over you I just hope mr. snood would record and recognize me from the canned goods katastro
