Welcome to my webpage. My name is April Williams. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from MTSU. This is my 23rd year teaching in Rutherford County. I taught at Rockvale for three years before moving to Blackman where I taught for nine years. I am so glad to be back home at the "ROCK". When I'm not at school, I enjoying spending time with my family at the lake and watching my daughters play travel softball.

Science (Ecosystems and  Changes)

 
Reading
  1. Snow Day- Day 4
  2. Follow the directions for Day 4.
  3. Sequence the events of the story.  You will only pick 4 events from the story.  Practice telling the story out loud  in 4 sentences before you write them down.  
  4. Illustrate after you have written your sentences.

 

Writing assignment

  1. Today you will illustrate your story about Christmas and winter break.
  2. Please make it neat and colorful.
  3. We will display them when you turn them in.
  4. I am so excited to read your stories.

  3. Remember to use the question as part of your answer.

  • Today you will publish your story about Christmas and winter break.
  • Rewrite your story neatly with the corrections you made yesterday.

Chapter 13

  1. Read page 80 Economic Choices
  2. If you can Watch a BrainPOP on Supply and Demand
  3. Draw a cartoon of supply and demand.
  4. Think about how everyone at Christmas wants the same toy. What would happen?
  5. You can color your cartoon and add speech bubbles.

  • Define renewable resource and nonrenewable resource on a sheet of notebook paper
  • Make a list of 5 renewable and 5 nonrenewable resources on the same sheet of notebook paper...keep paper in desk folder

Reading
  1. Reread Snow Day
  2. Complete Day 2- Read the directions and circle 3 words in the story. 
  3. Complete the chart for each word.  If it is a word you do not know use context clues around the word to find the meaning or you can look up the word in a dictionary.  You may also use words that you know to complete the chart as long as they are from the story.

Writing assignment-

Look back over you story about your Christmas and Winter Break.  Check for the following things:

  • capital letters
  • punctuation
  • complete sentences- Do they make sense?
  • spelling

You may use a red pen or any other colored pen, to fix your mistakes.

Reading

  1. Read Snow Day
  2. Complete Day 1- Follow the directions and reread the passage.  List what you experienced with your senses.  
  3. As you reread the story, stop along the way as you find a sense for your list and add it as you go.
  4. Finally draw a picture using what you visualized while reading.  Remember this is like a movie in your head.  

Writing assignment-

  • Tell me about your Christmas and Winter Break. 
  • Remember that a good paragraph has at least  5 sentences. 
  • You may want to use a separate piece of paper for brainstorming. 
  • Make a list of things you did, presents you received, movies you watched, games you played, or people you got to see and of course you can add anything else you would like to tell me about.  
 

Social Studies

  1. Read about Producers and consumers and Trade within Tennessee on pages 77-78.
  2. On page 77, using the word bank complete sentences 1-4,
  3. On page 77, complete the check point at the bottom of the page.
 

Distance Learning - Math and Science

As you know, we will be doing Distance Learning for the next three days.  Students are not required to log onto the computer.  They brought home a packet of assignments to be completed...

Read the All About Reindeer Information Sheet.  Complete the Text Feature Questions.  Complete the Fact and Details page.  Finally complete the comprehensions questions.  Don’t forget to sketch at the end.  For an additional resource log onto Clever and go watch a BrainPop.   

Idiom page- “Snowed Under” Write down what you think “snowed under” means and then illustrate it.  Go watch a BrainPop if you can. 

Social Studies  

Complete “Comparing Two States” and on the back “Focusing on Four” 

Thursday 12-17-20 

Reading 

Read “Rowdy Reindeer”. Then answer the questions for the text.  Write how the story ends. 

Idiom page- “Skate on thin ice” Write down what you think “Skate on thin ice” means and then illustrate it.  Remember you can go watch a BrainPop. 

Social Studies  

Complete “What is a Political Map?” and on the back “Products in the United States” 

 

Friday 12-18-20 

Reading 

Read “Reindeer”.   Identify the main idea of the text and color it red.  Then find supporting details and color them blue.  Finally, place the supporting details in the boxes below the main idea. 

Idiom page- “tip of the iceberg” Write down what you think “tip of the iceberg” means and then illustrate it.  Have you watched the BrainPop yet? 

Social Studies  

Complete “Land Regions and Physical Features of the United States” on the back.
